In this animation the complete working 3D model of the famous 1911 handgun is modeled in Autodesk Inventor. This gun is chambered for the .45 ACP round, which also is modeled in Autodesk Inventor. In the animation a round is chambered, the trigger gets pulled and the hammer smacks into the firing pin, firing the 1911. The 1911 fires the .45 ACP round into a target which as the rest is modeled in Autodesk Inventor.
All the Autodesk Inventor models are imported to Autodesk Showcase to do the animation. All the rendering, key framing and animation of the 1911 and the .45 ACP round hitting that target is done in Autodesk Showcase. Autodesk Showcase lets you animate an animation like this one very easy and very quickly.
The .45 ACP round is the same one used in another video I posted recently, "Ammunition Comparison - .22 LR to 14,5x114 mm & 20 mm Vulcan".
The grooves in the .45 ACP bullet, are to show the rotation. The rest of the model should be fairly correct.
If you have any questions about this animation, Autodesk Inventor or Autodesk Showcase, leave me a comment and I'll reply.
